Delete your account
Two ways to do it, the same result either way. You do not need the app installed.
In the app
Your profile, then Settings, then Delete account. You will be asked to confirm - with your password if you set one, or by signing in with Google or Apple if that is how you joined.
Without the app
Email hello@beyondtheyard.app from the address your account uses, asking us to delete it. We will confirm and then do exactly what the app would have done.
If you can no longer use that address, write to us from any address and tell us which account it is. We will ask for something that shows it is yours before we delete anything, because otherwise anyone could close your account.
What happens
- Straight away - your account is hidden. Other riders stop seeing you in discovery and your profile stops opening.
- For 30 days - nothing has been erased. You can change your mind by signing back in, which brings everything back exactly as it was.
- After 30 days - the erasure below happens, and there is no way back.
What is erased
- Your email address and your password, so the address is free to register with again
- Your links to Google or Apple, and every sign-in token
- Your profile - bio, photograph, town, disciplines, experience, pace, availability, transport
- Your horses
- Every photograph you uploaded
- Your marketplace listings
- The contents of your private messages, including ride group messages
What stays, and why
Your forum posts and comments. They stay on the site, attributed to "Deleted member", with your photographs removed. Somebody asking which farrier travels out their way is answered for the next person who asks too, and that outliving the account is most of what the forum is for. If a particular post needs to go, ask us and we will remove it.
Reports, moderation decisions and the audit log. These exist to protect other people. Leaving must not be a way to erase a record of what you did.
Backups, for up to 30 more days. We back the database up nightly and keep those for 30 days. Deleting your account does not reach into a backup already taken, so a copy ages out rather than being reached in and removed.
Before you can delete
Two things have to be tidied up first, because otherwise you would leave other people stranded:
- If you own a group that other people are in, hand it over or archive it.
- If you organise a ride or event that has not happened yet, cancel it so nobody turns up.
The app will tell you which, if either, applies to you.
Just want a break?
You do not have to delete anything. Editing your profile and turning off Discoverable takes you out of discovery and leaves everything else intact.
